While Dover Sherborn Girls Lacrosse does not endorse any one club lacrosse program in particular, we do support our players in their efforts to take their game to the next level. Whether your player chooses club, camp, or practice on a backyard bounceback, our hope is that she plays for the love of the game first and foremost.
There are many great club programs in our area. We will list them below.
Before signing on, here are some key things to consider:
Location, Location, Location. Where does the program practice? Can you make it there? Can you grab a few friends and try out for the same program? Carpool options are always a bonus!
What kind of program are you looking for? Some programs focus primarily on the development of the player and offer more practice options, less tournament play. Others have very limited practice options and focus more on putting together tournament teams.
What are the expectations and to what and to how much are you willing to commit? Club programs can be quite costly. Some club programs allow you to pick and choose from seasonal options. Some require a full year financial commitment, regardless of whether or not you are away every weekend in the winter, play hockey every other practice day, dance, etc.
Do you agree with the club philosophy and the coaching style? Will the coaches KNOW your daughter? Can you easily receive feedback about your daughter's play?
Bottom line: It's all about your daughter's happiness and the development of HER game. Fun, friendships, competition and connection are all part of the game.
